Course Details

Endoscopic ultrasound technology combines the maneuverability of an endoscope with ultrasound’s ability to image the body’s inner wall layers to visualize lesions, organs, major vessels and individual layers of the GI tract. In this one-hour CNE educational activity, participants will explore the capabilities of EUS in the GI Suite and review the major steps in the procedure.

This faculty-directed education activity is intended primarily for RNs with a responsibility for or an interest in ensuring safe patient care in the endoscopy suite. The presentation will also be of interest to allied healthcare personnel and MDs involved in endoscopy.

Upon completion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

1) Discuss the value of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) to the patient

2) Describe diagnostic and therapeutic applications of EUS

3) List the major steps in performing diagnostic and therapeutic EUS procedures

Recorded webinars must be watched in their entirety and cannot be fast-forwarded. In order to save video progress, participants should register/sign in before starting videos. Once the video is complete, participants will complete the evaluation and post-test. A passing score of 8/10 is required to earn a certificate. The post-test can be retaken until a passing grade is achieved. Reviewing the video before retaking the test is available, and fast-forwarding is enabled once the video has been completed. Once the test is passed, a certificate of completion will be available for download.

Upon successful completion of the entire online program, achieving a score of 80% on the posttest and submission of required documentation, participants will be granted 1 contact hour CNE credit. No partial credit will be granted.

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 08747, the District of Columbia Board of Nursing, Provider Number 50-574, the Florida Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 50-574 and the Georgia Board of Nursing, Provider Number 50-574.

According to the criteria of the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN), contact hours earned in this activity are considered GI Specific for the purpose of recertification through the ABCGN.

1. Successful completion: Participants must complete the entire program, register, achieve a score of 80% on the post-test and submit required documentation.

2. Conflict of interest: Planners disclose no conflict of interest. The speakers disclose salary or honorarium from the commercial support entity; they have signed a statement agreeing to present material fairly and without bias.

3. Commercial company support: Fees are underwritten by education funding provided by Boston Scientific.

4. Non-commercial company support: None.

5. Alternative/Complementary therapy: None.

6. Implicit Bias: Educational Dimensions supports efforts to eliminate health care disparities and implicit bias in medical treatment along the lines of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socioeconomic status and other characteristics in CNE activities addressing direct patient care.

Participants successfully completing the activity and submitting required documentation will be permitted to print a certificate of completion. Participants are advised to retain the certificate for eight years following activity completion. Certificates will be available in the participant dashboard.
