Course Details

It is well established that most colon cancers arise from colon polyps. By identifying and removing colon polyps during colonoscopy, we can prevent their progression to cancer and ultimately save lives. This CNE activity will present information on the management of lesions/polyps in the Gl Tract. It is expected that participants will be able to identify Gl tract polyps and the various advanced techniques required for management.

This CNE activity is intended primarily for RNs with a responsibility for or an interest in endoscopic polyp management and ensuring safe patient care in the endoscopy suite. The presentation will also be of interest to allied healthcare personnel and MDs involved in endoscopy.

Upon completion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

1) Describe characteristics of Gl lesions/polyps encountered in the Gl Suite

2) Discuss advanced Polypectomy techniques, including EMR and ESD

3) documentation as directed. A bibliographic reference is included for those wishing additional information.Explain the use of lifting and tattooing agents used in the management of Gl lesions/polyps in the Gl Suite

Recorded webinars must be watched in their entirety and cannot be fast-forwarded. In order to save video progress, participants should register/sign in before starting videos. Once the video is complete, participants will complete the evaluation and post-test. A passing score of 8/10 is required to earn a certificate. The post-test can be retaken until a passing grade is achieved. Reviewing the video before retaking the test is available, and fast-forwarding is enabled once the video has been completed. Once the test is passed, a certificate of completion will be available for download.

Upon successful completion of the entire online program and submission of required documentation, participants will be granted 1 contact hour. No partial credit will be granted.

It is the responsibility of the licensee to verify acceptance of contact hours for relicensure.

According to the criteria of the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN), contact hours earned in this activity are considered GI Specific for the purpose of recertification through the ABCGN.

1. Successful completion: Participants must complete the entire program, register, achieve a score of 80% on the post-test and submit required documentation.

2. Conflict of interest: Planners disclose no conflict of interest. The speakers disclose salary or honorarium from the commercial support entity; they have signed a statement agreeing to present material fairly and without bias.

3. Commercial company support: Fees are underwritten by education funding provided by Laborie.

Participants successfully completing the activity and submitting required documentation will be permitted to print a certificate of completion. Participants are advised to retain the certificate for eight years following activity completion. Certificates will be available in the participant dashboard.
